Whole Body Detox Workshop

Spring will be here soon and it’s a good time to prepare for some spring cleaning!  Detoxes are a great way to kick-start your way to better health, but with the vast (and conflicting) information all over social media, do you find yourself wondering if you really need one?

Naturopathic doctors, Dr. Janice Dacyshyn and Dr. Janet Trieu want to guide you through the sea of information, helping to demystify detoxes and weighing in on current detox programs that are popular.  At the 2-hour workshop, you will also learn how to support your bodies’ natural detoxification process using nutrition, herbs and botanicals, homeopathics and Chinese medicine and acupuncture.  As well, we will have a psychologist talk about the emotional detox, a spring cleaning for your mind.

  1. What are the benefits of a detox?

  • Increases energy

  • Decreases allergies and sensitivities

  • Decreases PMS or menopausal symptoms

  • Improve your skin

  • Better concentration and mental stamina

  1. What does a detox entail?

  • Detoxes will vary depending on your individual needs or body – this is where naturopathic doctors can be helpful.

  • Lightening the load on your body through diet: reducing ingredients hard to digest, hard for the liver to process, or are common food allergies or sensitivities and…

  • Supporting the natural detoxification processes (phase I and phase II liver detoxification system, kidneys, lungs and skin)

  1. Do I really need one?

  • As you age, our ability to naturally remove toxins in our bodies decreases

  1. Does the detox protocol have to be very restrictive and include lots of stomach upset?

  • No!  Even mild cleansing can still be very beneficial.  This can be as simple as decreasing certain foods that are hard to process or hard on the liver and increasing foods that aid in detoxification pathways like leafy greens and milk thistle.
