Tamara Smith

Tamara is a certified Athletic Therapist (CAT(C)), and graduate of the Athletic and Exercise Therapy program at Camosun College in Victoria, BC. She has worked with a wide variety of clients ranging from the general population, to elite level athletes and teams.

Physical activity has always been a central part of Tamara’s life; she has been active in soccer, ballet, snowboarding, distance running, Olympic weightlifting, crossfit, volleyball and rugby.  It is safe to say that through these activities a passion for fitness, strength and health began, passions that were further nurtured by the sports injuries she’s sustained over the years and her own need to heal and improve. While pursuing her diploma in Personal Fitness Training in 2008 Tamara had the opportunity to work with NAIT’s Head Athletic Therapist, which allowed her to gain experience working with various collegiate teams including volleyball, soccer, basketball, hockey and badminton. After working a year in the personal training realm, her desire to pursue Athletic Therapy lead her to the University of Alberta. There she was able to further develop her rehabilitation knowledge while working with the women’s rugby team, helping them to make it to the CIS National Championship where they ultimately earned a bronze medal. She discovered a passion for the sport of rugby, which compelled her to continue working within the sport through a local men’s rugby league team. While pursuing her Athletic Therapy degree she continued her involvement with University sport, working with the University of Victoria women’s soccer team for two seasons and continuing to work with the men’s rowing team.
